Morning Shine

What began as a picture-perfect summer morning quickly turned into a test of paint jobs and umbrellas. Sunlight poured onto polished fenders as the first entrants rolled in, but by mid-afternoon the sky had traded its blue for steely gray. When the rain finally came, it bounced off hoods and puddled beneath chrome bumpers—adding a dramatic sheen no detailing spray could match.

Afternoon Showers

The sudden downpour might have chased a lesser crowd indoors, yet owners and spectators alike embraced the drizzle. Pop-up canopies appeared, microfiber towels flew, and the show went on with even more camaraderie than before. Some of the day’s most striking reflections were the ones captured in those fresh rain pools.

A Family-Friendly Festival of Horsepower

With Best Paint, Best Engine, and Overall Appearance trophies on the line, the show fielded everything from candy-apple-red ‘57 Chevys to modern muscle, off-road rigs, and daily-driver sleepers. A $10 display fee kept things accessible, while the $20 competition entry offered friendly bragging rights.

Between engine-revving demonstrations and raffle drawings for detailing kits, restaurant vouchers, and WRFD swag, families perused vendor tents offering handmade crafts and fire-safety resources. Kids posed for photos in front of the department’s antique fire engine, and parents snagged hot dogs from the concession stand—profits of which also flowed to the burn foundation.

Why We Gathered

The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation partners with fire services statewide to fund burn-survivor support, medical care, and educational outreach. Chief Wright summed up the mission perfectly:
“The After Burn Auto Show isn’t just horsepower and high-gloss paint—it’s our community lifting up people who face the long road of burn recovery.”
Every registration fee, raffle ticket, and cash-box donation from the day goes straight to GFBF programs that change lives far beyond the show lot.
